How To Select Music
The Armonico String Ensemble approaches weddings with a single goal - to provide a musical experience that completely expresses your goals and dreams for your wedding. The most important component of this is working together with you to determine the wedding program that perfectly expresses your personality and style.
First of all, when selecting music for your wedding, there are usually several important components that you will want to pick a piece of music for:
Preludes
Seating of Mothers/Grandmothers
Entrance of Bridal Party
Entrance of Bride
Unity Candle / Sand Ceremony (optional)
Vocal Performance (optional)
Recessional
For preludes, Armonico will generally prepare a program of 30 minutes of elegant and energetic music in anticipation of your special event. We will gladly include any special requests in this portion.
To choose the appropriate pieces for the various ceremony components, we suggest the following process.
1. Visit the Virtual Audition.
This is your first stop for getting ideas. Which pieces resonate with you the most? Does a certain piece remind you of your maid of honor, or your grandmother? If so, you might consider that piece for the portion while they are entering.
2. Take a look at several Sample Wedding Programs.
These sample programs were used by previous Armonico clients and represent a wide range of options in music selection. Hopefully they will give some expression for how various pieces can fit together in the context of a ceremony.
3. Browse our Full Music List.
Scrolling through our extensive list may remind you of a piece you know that you forgot you knew, or may just generally put some new ideas in your mind. Either way, feel free to ask us about anything you notice on the list that looks interesting, and remember that this list is constantly growing, so let us know if the piece you want isn’t listed.
4. Still need more ideas?
The iTunes Music Store is a great place to gather more ideas. Download iTunes, enter the music store, and perform a power search on “Wedding Album”, and you will find dozens of wedding music clips that can be previewed for free. It’s almost guaranteed that if you find a song you like on a wedding album, we can provide the piece with no problem.
